Learning from Mistakes

When I started I wasn’t well prepared. I took agile as another buzzword. And it was not an easy change. Neither for me, nor for the people around me. Agile is a journey. It takes time until you embrace it and realize what are all the values and principles about.

In this talk we explore together the experiments we did and mistakes we learned on our agile journey. It took me several years to realize it took me many experiments to learn. But step by step I become better in building teams, understanding the business value mindset, and helping organizations to embrace business agility. In other words help organizations get ready to whatever future brings.

“Are you doing Product Management or Bullshit Management?”

Everyone has an opinion about everything. Everyone wants something done by yesterday. You’re pushed in different directions and face an exhaustive routine.  How can you create value while everyone is distracting you?
Learning how to differentiate signs from noises is vital for your success. If you fail to do that, you’ll end up doing bullshit management instead of product management.
Let me walk you through common traps that leads to sub-optimal results and help you escape from them. Hopefully, you’ll get insights on how to increase the odds of creating value and reducing the chances of creating crap.

Before becoming a Scrum Master, he was engaged in many activities, once even “committed” to Project Management. If you ask him what he likes most about his job, will say that interacting with other people. Why? Because it shows him how things are looking from a completely different perspective.

He believes that the best work approach cannot be just implemented it must be cocreated by the organization and constantly challenged.

When not working, constantly trying to convince his children that they should watch Star Wars with him. One day he’ll succeed…

Prywatnie: dużo jem, chodzę w czapkach, kolekcjonuję płyty – głównie winylowe i nadużywam słowa “uszanowanko”.

I’m an experienced manager – it’s been over 20 years since I ran my first big project. I’ve worked for corporations, SMEs, startups, and Venture Capital in Poland (my home country) and abroad. The name of the company I started in 2017 perfectly describes my approach: Zero BS Management. I’m not a fan of long biographical notes. Whenever I see an impressive list of awards, courses, and certificates of some expert, I always think of all those crappy managers I’ve worked with similarly remarkable resumes.

My whole professional life, I was working Agile. I don’t know how to do it differently. I truly love what I do, I thrive in an environment that enables self organization. I like banding the rules, working with the teams to create conditions that fit them and them only. I bring my whole self to work and encourage people around me to do the same.
I’m a Scrum Master at Ørsted, enabling the world to run entirely on green energy.
Retoryczny plac zabaw

Kluczyk

Karolina Kluczyk

Karolina Kluczyk has been working with Scrum since 2012. Agile Coach and Agile Team Leader at LUX MED for over 5 years. She successfully implemented Agile in organizations. She participated, among others in agile transformations and building scrum teams at IT LUX MED and in startup environments at iHouse. Scrum is her professional and personal passion. She is a fan and creator of several Agile-related simulation games. She is the author of workshops on scrum values in the unique form of a court hearing. She even has scrum values tattooed on her arm:) Her nickname is “walking feedback”. Communication and feedback culture are her key to success. Privately, mom of a very agile 3-year-old Zuzia. Head over heels in love with dogs.

SPINKA – sztuka dawania feedbacku
Informacje zwrotne docierając do każdego z nas codziennie: od przyjaciół, najbliższych, kolegów i koleżanek, klientów, szefów, nauczycieli, lekarzy, nieznajomych. Informacja zwrotna, czyli inaczej komunikat zwrotny z języka angielskiego “feedback” obejmuje wszelkie otaczające nas informacje.
Połączenie teorii i praktyki pozwoli Nam wypracować efektywną i klarowną ścieżkę komunikacji.

Agile Coach, Trener, Konsultant, Mentor

Zwinnym myśleniem zaraziłem się ponad dekadę temu. Od kilku lat jestem Agile Coachem, a wcześniej byłem wiele lat Scrum Masterem. Uważam, że każdy produkt można szybko zaprojektować, zbudować i zweryfikować. Wystarczy odpowiednie nastawienie i umiejętności.

Od długiego czasu wspieram zespoły i organizacje w dążeniu do dojrzałości i radości pracy w środowisku Agile. Współpracowałem z firmami ComputerLand, Systemy Kodów Kreskowych, Hurra.com, eSky.pl, ProCognita, Alior Bank, a obecnie mBank.

  • wprowadzenie do Myślenia Systemowego

oraz

  • wprowadzenie/użycie Causal Loop Diagram
  • wprowadzenie/użycie OKR
Dla kogo:
(Top)Managerowie, Agile coache i inne role wspierające zmiany organizacyjne.

Denis Salnikov

Denis Salnikov is an Org Design and Agility Coach based in Krakow. Being a Professional Scrum Master, Kanban Coach & LeSS Practitioner, he has been working with development teams and company leaders since 2014. Denis has taken an active part in multiple Agile transformations and organised Product development scaling at various startups and enterprises in Europe, North Africa and the US, including “unicorn” startups N26 (Germany) and PandaDoc (USA), and the leading super app in the Maghreb region Yassir (Algeria).

Systems Thinking for Agile Practitioners

Hundreds if not thousands of Agile implementations have been side-tracked or completely undermined due to impeding organisational structures or policies. Quite often, challenging those is also not what Scrum Masters or Agile Coaches get “hired for”.

But what if the organisation actually needs to change in order to enable Inspection & Adaptation and achieve sustainable agility? Or you need to help the Team to see its current state from a side? What can be the Agile practitioner’s “secret weapon” empowering them to challenge the status quo? If I had to choose one, my answer would be “Systems Thinking”.

During this workshop you will:
– Get to know the condensed ideas and laws of Systems Thinking
– Discover how modelling observed Systems Dynamics together with decision-makers and stakeholders creates space for often avoided conversations and allows Change Agent to speak truth to power
– Try out Systems Modelling in practice (lots of practice!)
– Learn some tips & tricks on how to kick-off Systems Thinking Katas at your workplace to achieve sustainable change.

What if your team hates agile? – how to do agile when it became a meme

4 hours workshop

Recommended for: Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, Change agents

Picture this: it is your first day at your new job. You will need to support a team to improve their process and educate them on agility. You walk into your first team event and hear the question of ‘Does it bring any value?’ followed by a burst of laughter. And now you know. Bad agile was done here and the team you are now supposed to be a part of thinks that it is no more than an industry wide fad.

This is a workshop about working with teams that have low motivation to adopt agile ways of working or have bad prior experiences with framework implementations. Focused on building a strong foundation for leading by example and setting realistic goals with such teams.

*Basic terms on Scrum values, Agile Manifesto, and other methods will be provided, but not talked about at length. It is advised that the workshop participants have a basic understanding of the most popular agile methods and terms.

Workshop goals:

  • Participants leave the room with a strong resolve about what kind of a SM/AC they want and need to be

  • Participants prepare algorithms for managing the most probable reasons their new teams show resistance

Gdzie przyniesie ono wartość a gdzie będzie powodowało jedynie frustrację, płacz i nieporozumienia.
