Applying agile in the large doesn’t require a specific framework, it only requires taking the agile values, principles, and practices seriously. However, for a large team it is even more important to pay ‘Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design’ as the Agile Manifesto requests.
Yet, how to implement the typical agile development practices like continuous integration or collective code ownership in a large setting?
Moreover, are there any differences or things to watch out for when applying self-organization or “easier” practices like unit testing or refactoring?
Jutta will focus and explore:
– the impact and application of agile principles and development practices in large teams
– how scaling agile can be done in a truly agile way, meaning being adaptive, flexible, responsive, and nimble.
An agile and Management 3.0 trainer
As a consultant has helped hundreds of European and American companies in their agile transformation
An author of two books Agile Management and Agile Kaizen
A regular conference speaker
Angel is an Agile trainer and consultant who has helped hundreds of small, medium and multinational companies in their agile transformation, mainly in Europe and America. Moreover he is a regular speaker at agile events, one of the most active Management 3.0 trainers and an author of two books Agile Management and Agile Kaizen, both published by Springer.
Agility is a mindset, a culture, and managers (especially middle management) are the resonating beacons of an organization’s culture. At the same time, tools are only as useful as the people who wield them. Unfortunately, most Agile training for managers is aimed at tools, methods, processes, roles and blueprints… “doing” Agile instead of BEING Agile.
During his talk, Angel will share how an Agile Leadership model was developed as well as the means to leverage the transition to this mindset.
The goal of this keynote is to give you an insight of this process and some ideas on how to kick-start an Agile Leadership program in your own organization.

A mathematics engineer by education, problem-solving by nature. A big fan of efficiency, optimization and Lean approach. From experience, a manager managing projects and teams in large international companies. By conviction, a leader focused on the personal development of People, as it is in them that he sees the source of the success of all activities. Co-founder of the Tri-City organization “Lider z sercem”, under which he conducts workshops on broadly understood social and leadership competences. On a daily basis, Scrum Master supporting teams working with the use of agile approaches at SolDevelo. A graduate of postgraduate studies in coaching and psychology. In his coaching practice he is focusing on supporting personal development and building strong internal motivation. Privately, he is passionate about mountain trips at any time of the year.
You might have just implemented Agile in your organization. Or maybe you have been working in Scrum Framework for a while now. Regardless of the situation, the time has come for the next step. You already know the tools, the rules and the principles. What you aim for now is being more focused, transparent, open and adaptive. There are a lot of ways to develop your organizational agility. One of them is management by objectives (MBO) – created and described by Peter Drucker, and then redefined in the OKR framework (Objectives and Key Results).
In this talk we would like to explain why – as scrum masters – we have started and facilitated the process of implementing OKRs in our organization. We will also discuss how we designed the process, how we involved the top managers and leaders and what is the current result of the OKR pilot.
Magdalena
Droździewicz
Scrum Master since 2013, specialized in helping platform teams. Fascinated by how sometimes small actions can lead to spectacular effects. From the moment I first encountered the Scrum Guide, “Inspect and adapt” quotation has become my mantra, so I’m always on a lookout for opportunities to improve. Privately big fan of Lego bricks.
A digest of tricks and methods introduced by my Team in our way of working, that were followed by a fair increase in the quality of our increments.
Joanna
Dziuba-Wiśniewska
Joanna Dziuba-Wiśniewska – coach, consultant and agile leader supporting FinTech and software development agile teams and other agile leaders in development on individual, team and enterprise level; couducted coaching of almost 30 teams in Agile/Scrum, Lean, team building and professional growth; led over 30 personal growth/career development processes (incl. coaching and mentoring for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Leaders and Managers and engineers)
The cooperation between Scrum Master and leader of the team may either boost the way the team works or diminish all the support there is for the team. Therefore in my talk I would like to show how to establish a positive cooperation between those 2 roles in different scenarios: entry-level scrum master and experienced team leader, experienced scrum master and not-experienced team leader etc. Additionally, the aim of the talk is to discuss the cliches and stereotypes that often become an impediment in such a cooperation as well as share how based on my experience one can overcome those.

Nowadays the increasing number of Product Owners are interested in managing their products by setting up Product Goals. The concept might look simple to understand, however, based on working with Product Owners, the confusion may be felt. For instance, I often met the following questions: What is the Product Goal? Why should I need it? How do I know that this is a right goal?
During the talk I will share the hierarchy of goals, how are they related to value delivery, and what should be a source of Product Goals.
Piotr
Górak
Piotr is so old that he remembers when pro HTML pages were created without any CSS. He worked in multiple roles and has been a Product Owner at Motorola for the last 4+ years. He loves the history of computer science and is a big fan of functional programming. He is known for his very strong views on software development which, unfortunately, sometimes led him into trouble.
The world is changing rapidly and the software industry is subject to change as anything else. The agility that many of us pushed through the industry since about 2010 was based on idealistic movement and that movement is already dead. But there is already a driving force, a vehicle for getting useful ideas from conception to industry adoption. By realizing the nature of this driving force we can forecast, to some extent, the future and also try to shape it.
Through my presentation, I’m going to explain what I believe this driving force is and provide facts and analogies to help you see the future of our industry more clearly.

I’m working as a Product Owner at Motorola Solutions. I am a problem solver with expertise and experience in blazing trails through complex areas. At Motorola, you will see me turning ideas into product features and bridging gaps between business and technical people. When I’m not at work, you will find me spending time with my family or running in the meadow near the place I live. My friends and colleagues would use these three words to describe me: good listener, driven, and empathetic.
More and more companies are publishing Product Owner openings. I’ll share with you my experience on how to start and position yourself as a Product Owner in the organization. What are key areas, each Product Owner should focus on to be successful in his/her role, to avoid being a scribe or proxy.

I have been building products for many years because it is my way of changing the world. As a Product Owner and Agile trainer, I focus every day on maximizing the value delivered.
I have been using method 5 why since I was a child.
I have almost 10 years of experience as a Project Manager.
7 years ago I entered the Agile world as a Product Owner in the insurance domain, and 1.5 years later I joined one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies to take part in the war against cancer.
I currently work as a Product Owner on Federated Learning and Federated Analytics to accelerate research into rare disease therapies while ensuring the security of patient data.
As an Agile Trainer, I conduct workshops and training, mentor and support teams on the path to mature agility. In 2022, I had the great pleasure of being a speaker at Agile Swarming. Since then, I have developed as a presenter and presented in this role at several agile conferences.
I believe in the values of SCRUM and the power of the Deming cycle.
As described in the Scrum Guide, a Scrum Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team. Undeniably, but only?
Working for many years on various products, with various Teams and stakeholders, we also see the Leader of Ownership in this role. This person determines the involvement of the Development Team in the development of the product and the willingness to take risk and responsibility by them. It is this person that determines how engaged users will be in providing feedback quickly and it is this person who is the link between business and engineering, supporting building trust.
During this talk, we would like to present a number of tools that will help strengthen ownership and accountability of various stakeholders in the product development process. We do not promise that we will give a recipe for all ills, but we hope to evoke reflection on the other super powers of Product Owners.

I am an experienced agilists with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. During my career, I’ve worked as an actuarial developer, analyst, project manager, Scrum Master, Agile Coach and Product Manager. Now I am engaged as a Product Manager at the International team of agile coaches in Bupa. We are delivering teaching, coaching, mentoring and consulting services internally for Bupa business units across the globe. All of this experience enables me to look at organizations from a broad holistic perspective.
Do you know the difference between value stream management and value stream mapping? If no the workshop is for you. Value stream theory comes from lean and manufacturing. Now it comes handy because we can react to data delivered by our devops teams. The problem is that in digital value streams we rarely make the same thing twice. We will discuss how to describe value stream scope, how to define it, map and finally manage. I will share some examples of simple tools you can use in your organisation.
The flow as a state was described first by Mihaily Csikkszentmihalyi in his book, The flow is a state when creation goes smoothly from idea to value delivered. Additional outcome from this state is happiness. Based on this piece of knowledge Don Reinertsen wrote „The Principles of Product Development – FLOW”. This book is so scientific that is hard to read. Nevertheless this book is full of treasures – over hundred principles how to develop value better. After that book we can see flow everywhere – in scrum and kanban agile teams, at scaled agile frameworks, in dev ops and value streams. We can see it and we can’t nail it. I will share few examples and reflection how to find and measure flow in big organisation.

What is perspective and what are the factors that affect it? How many different perspectives are needed to deliver a new product? This talk ponders the relevance of perspectives in software development, how realizing their existence can help in improving communication and how opening ourselves to other perspectives can help us become better engineers.

Whenever it’s developing a product or improving the ways of working – we need to validate a hypothesis through experiments, tests, observations… and next we need to evaluate the results and try again if we didn’t reach the goal.
There is a practice that focuses on developing problem solving, scientific thinking and continuous improvement abilities. It helps us to better plan and assess our actions. It’s called Toyota Kata. During the workshop you will be encouraged to puzzle out the optimal solution through continuous experiments. At the end we will celebrate the learning with Management 3.0 practice!

We all face challenges at work, in life, sometimes small, sometimes overwhelmingly big. How to tackle them? Well… there is no silver bullet. However, you can try co-working on potential solutions with others, applying a deep understanding of the human need behind the challenge in an iterative way. Interesting? This workshop uses the surprising power of Design Thinking through co-creating prototypes for solving even the most wicked challenges.
